Our emergency alert system for Benton County is RAVE. The Smart911 app is also used to provide important information about you to first responders in case of emergencies. You can put as little or as much information in the app as you wish!
From our Facebook announcement:
Benton County’s new alert system is RAVE. With this free service, we can alert you to potential emergencies in our county, including dam failure, straight-line winds, hazardous material concerns, and more. This part of the service is provided automatically. You do not have to sign up for anything to receive these alerts.
The second part of the new alert system is the Smart911 app. You can sign up for this service and you don’t need a smartphone to receive secondary alerts. You can provide a landline number, regular cell phone number, email address, or a smartphone. Secondary alerts include road closures (such as the Dam Access Road, which is intermittently closed from now until April 2019), specific areas which are experiencing things like flooding/flash flooding, and other area-specific problems which might disrupt routine. The app also allows you the ability to enter animal/livestock and medical information for our first responders and dispatchers to use in case you experience an emergency.
