On Thursday, March 14, the United States Army Corps of Engineers (from both the Kansas City office and the Truman Lake office) ran a tabletop exercise for Truman Dam. The goal of the tabletop was to operate a virtual emergency operations center and allow all services and partners to exercise their responses to a potential dam failure. The ultimate goal of this practice was to focus on saving life and property.
Among the participants were Corps personnel, first responders (local, county, and state), dispatchers, EMAs, the health department, commissioners, volunteer organizations, and more.
Here are some photos of the information we learned about the basins, dams, and rivers in our area.
Working together, the personnel from Benton County discovered needs and improvements we can make to better serve and protect our residents!
