Training Class Dates:
Training Schedule for September 2018 announced!

CERT training MUST be a cumulative minimum 20-hour training course. We are also scheduling a make-up date on a Saturday morning, in case one of the listed dates conflicts with our participants’ schedules.
We will be having the autumn class on Mondays and Thursdays from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm beginning September 10, 2018. Note that the order of these courses may change based on the availability of the professionals teaching their respective units.
Sept. 10 5:30-8:30-Volunteer paperwork, Unit 1 Disaster Preparedness and Personal Protective Equipment, and Unit 6 CERT Organization (Taught by Samantha Henley and Christy Barber).
Sept. 13 5:30-8:30-Unit 2 Fire Safety and Unit 5 Search and Rescue (Taught by 1-2 firefighters. These will be announced when the date draws closer.)
Sept. 17 5:30-8:30-Units 3 Medical Part 1 and Unit 4 Medical Part 2 (Taught by 1-2 EMS personnel. These will be announced when the date draws nearer. Guest teacher Martha Foster will also be assisting with this class.)
Sept. 20 5:30-8:30-Unit 7 Disaster Psychology (Taught by a licensed psychologist. This will be announced when the date draws closer.) and Unit 8 Terrorism (Taught by Deputy Stormy Walker)
Sept. 24 5:30-8:30-Practicals (including hands-on demonstrations, homemade flares, fire starters, solo stove, and fire extinguishers). This will be taught by Samantha Henley, Christy Barber, Martha Foster, and other current BC MO CERT members.
Sept 27 5:30-8:30-Communications training (taught by BC ARES personnel), Question and Answer Session, and Course Review (taught by Samantha Henley and Christy Barber).
Sept. 29 9-12-Make-up/Additional Practice (taught by Samantha Henley and Christy Barber with guest teachers present if available).
Testing on Oct. 2 5:30-8:30-Written Test and Full Disaster Simulation (all hands on deck. This will be carried out by as many of the previous teachers/BC MO CERT members as we have available).
This training is free of charge and the CERT Participant Manual will be provided to each participant. If possible, please register for your FEMA Student Identification (SID) and take IS-317: Introduction to Community Emergency Response Teams prior to the class.
